Residential Care

Aberlea Inc Mortlake is a 40-bed facility that provides permanent and respite care as well as day respite at our Mortlake residential facility.

To be eligible for funded services you will require a mandatory assessment which is carried out by the aged care assessment team/service.

This assessment is conducted to establish if you will be High or Low care.

If you need assistance or more information on this assessment please contact the friendly team at Aberlea Inc.

A special feature at Aberlea Inc. is that each resident has their own personal ensuite off their bedroom. We encourage residents to make these bedrooms their own.

Permanent

At Aberlea Inc. we offer permanent care to people who are no longer able to live unsupported on their own.

We offer a range of services to suit High and Low level care and as your needs change we will continue to support you by adapting the care we provide.

This helps minimise disruption and provides peace of mind for you and your family.

Also, when you become a resident at Aberlea Inc. you will have access to our in-house dietician, physiotherapist, speech therapist, diabetic educator and hearing specialist as well as daily activities and regular bus trips.

Dementia

At Aberlea Inc. Mortlake, we have a small 8 bed dementia specific unit which we call the “The Mews”.

Within this secure unit each resident has their own bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. We encourage families to make these bedrooms their own by furnishing the rooms with as many familiar items as possible from home.

Within the Mews we encourage residents to take part in meaningful activities. So, when you enter you will often see the ladies busily sweeping the floor, dusting, folding napkins and the men sorting screws, nuts and bolts. These small jobs help promote a sense of self worth and make the resident feel at home in the environment just like they did in their own homes.

We are also lucky to have double doors that we open up into a lovely secure garden area for the nice days. There is a path for walking and a veggie garden for the residents to grow their own food which are then turned into delicious meals.

Respite

Respite care (also known as ‘short-term care’) is a form of support for you and your carer.

Sometimes carers need respite for longer periods; for extended holidays, surgery and recuperation or simply for time to rest.
Aberlea Inc. offers high quality respite care for your loved ones. We provide flexible, short-term or extended care. Respite guests have their own room and ensuite, dine with the residents and become apart of the residential family. They also have a range of lifestyle activities to participate in during their stay.

If you need emergency respite care, phone your local Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre on 1800 052 222 during business hours or 1800 059 059 outside business hours.

Please feel welcome to contact Aberlea Inc. directly on 03 5599 2901 to discuss your needs.
