The position
As the Registered Nurse, you will provide clinical care through a person-centred approach. Your duties will include :
- Supervision of ENs and PCAs involved in providing resident care.
- Working closely with residents and their families to understand their needs.
- Coordinating and delivering assessments, treatment and documentation to the highest standard that meets regulatory requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining a positive relationship with Medical and Allied Health providers who are affiliated with Aberlea Inc.
- Acting as a professional role model for the broader Aberlea Inc. team.

Role skills and experience

We currently have vacancies for Casual Enrolled nurses.
As an Enrolled Nurse at Aberlea you will be responsible for
- Medication administration.
- Wound treatment.
- Resident assessment.
- Care planning.
Support/ supervision of staff on shifts and being a professional role model to the broader Aberlea Community.
These roles are supported by and work in consultation with the Director of Care and Operations and our Registered Nurses.
Required skills and experience
- Current AHPRA registration.
- Demonstrated understanding of person centred care.
- Experience in leading and supervising teams of people.
- Previous experience working within a care role, experience working in an Aged Care Facility is advantageous.
- Clear communication skills and a strong customer focus to ensure that residents are put at the front and centre of all that we do.
- Ability to work autonomously while being an effective team member.
- A flexible approach to working, adaptable to different shifts on offer.
- IT skills – including the ability to use email and Microsoft applications.
- Understanding of the Aged care quality standards and accreditation framework.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of contemporary nursing practice, importance of accurate documentation relating to pain management for complex care needs.

- Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support (or working towards) would be desirable, but not essential.
- Experience in aged care, or a keen desire to work within aged care.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of the team.
- A passionate and respectful approach to work where the needs and wants of a resident are paramount.

About the role.
We currently have an excellent opportunity on offer for a dedicated and enthusiastic person to join our food services team on a permanent part-time basis at Aberlea in Mortlake.
You will be part of a committed and inclusive team who take pride in providing our residents with a wide variety of nutritious meal options tailored to their care plans, while prioritizing safe and hygienic food practices and promoting overall wellbeing.
The successful applicant will be required to work across all areas of the kitchen from kitchen hand duties to cooking.
About you.
Requirements:.
- Certificate in Commercial Cooking desired, not essential.
- Experience catering to individuals in a residential aged care setting or similar, consistently meeting the relevant culinary and nutritional standards required.
- Sound knowledge and application of Australian Food Safety and hygiene standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, lending well to a diverse and inclusive team environment.
- Ability to supervise other members of staff.
- Willingness to uphold the vision, mission and values of Aberlea Inc.
- Good time management, attention to detail and record management skills.
- Willingness to work variety of shifts.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate (obtained within the last 12 months)
- Evidence of Covid and Influenza Vaccination (preferable)
- A current police clearance or willingness to get one.
