Dear Aberlea community,
I am writing to you all with positive news regarding our recent COVID-19 outbreak at Aberlea.
We were notified by Barwon Southwest Public Health Unit on 1/8/22 that Aberlea was officially stood down from the COVID 19 outbreak. The outbreak spanned across 2 weeks, with 15 residents and 13 staff members effected.
I am happy to inform you that all residents and staff that had tested positive during the outbreak have all recovered and are now out of isolation and doing very well.
The staff at Aberlea will continue to test daily. Residents at Aberlea are no longer restricted to staying in the facility and visitation can return to normal as it was prior to the outbreak.
Visitation will still require:
• An appointment made 24 hours prior to the visit
• A Rapid Antigen test prior to entry, either for the purposes of a visit or to accompany a resident on an outing.
• A temperature check and screen at the front door.
I would like to thank you all for your patience, understanding and support during the outbreak, a huge thank you to our hard-working team members at Aberlea for their amazing care and dedication provided to the residents at Aberlea, their efforts will not go unrecognised.
If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate in contacting us at Aberlea at any time.
Kind regards
Leonie Kelly
Director of Care and Operations
