COVID-19 update | 26 April 2022

Wednesday, April 26, 2022

Dear Aberlea Community,

I write to you today to pass on some excellent news regarding our recent Covid outbreak. We were today cleared by the Barwon Southwest Public Health Unit and this morning our final Covid positive resident was able to leave isolation.

The outbreak spanned three weeks and affected ten residents. All residents have now made full recoveries. Fortunately, throughout the outbreak, no staff contracted the virus. I thank them all for their amazing efforts over the past three weeks.

We have learnt a lot over the past three weeks. Given, that we can, unfortunately, expect further outbreaks it’s important that we learn and improve our processes internally, which we will do.

The above being said, we can now return to normal visitation. Visitation will still require:

  • An appointment made 24 hours prior to the visit
  • A Rapid Antigen test prior to entry
  • A temperature check and screen at the front door.

We are also excited to announce that each resident can now have up to five visitors per day. To arrange visitation please contact Deb McAuliffe on 0475 055 394.

I thank you all for your patience and support during the outbreak, and as always, if you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact any of us directly. Kind Regards,

David Knight
