COVID-19 update | April 17

Aberlea Corona

17 April 2020

To Aberlea Family,

I write to provide you a further update of the current measures in place at Aberlea to protect our home from COVID-19.

As you are all no doubt aware, we are currently enacting restricted visitation to Aberlea. I wish to advise of further restrictions (to Aberlea) that we have enacted from today.

Visitation to Aberlea will now be by appointment and prior arrangement only. Official visiting hours have now ceased. Care and support along with compassionate visitation can still occur and will be facilitated under a limited set of criteria.

If you would like to discuss the effect this restriction could have on your loved one, please contact Phil Irvine (DoC) or Debi McAuliffe (RLO) to work through the alternate solutions we have available.  We have already seen a significant reduction in the amount of visitation to our site and we thank you all for that. At the same time, we are working hard to minimise the effects that visitation restrictions can have.

Please continue to work with our Resident Liaison Officer (on 0475055394) or lifestyle team (on lifestyle@aberlea.com.au) to utilise other avenues to maintain contact where possible with our residents throughout this time.

Could I also remind you all that as of 1 May 2020 nobody will be able to enter Aberlea without providing proof of your current 2020 Influenza vaccination.

The situation continues to evolve.  We will keep you all updated as we work through this issue with your help. Thank you all again for helping us to reduce the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak.

If you would like to discuss any or all the above measures please contact me directly on 0455772578 or Phil Irvine Director of Care on 0447826563.

Kind Regards,

David Knight
Chief Executive Officer
