What is the Dan Brumley Trust & Aberlea Inc Scholarship

The Dan Brumley Trust & Aberlea Inc Scholarship was created to help give students of the Mortlake and surrounding communities to provide them with opportunities to further their education at an educational institution. The scholarship is awarded to students based on their academic merit and proficiency.

Who can Apply

Any eligible student (male or female) in Mortlake and district, ie. Living within the surrounding area and demonstrating a tangible connection to Mortlake.

Any year 11 or 12 VCE student who has completed their secondary education to attend further tertiary education, or other education institution.

Due to no applications last year, the Brumley Trust and Aberlea Foundation will award two scholarships valued at $1000 each

Value of Scholarship

Two x $1000 scholarships will be awarded comprising of $1000 from the Dan Brumley Trust and $1000 from Aberlea Inc Foundation. This is awarded on an annual basis, for a 1 year period. The scholarship for 2021 will be awarded following 2021 VCE results and will be announced on February 1st 2022.

How to Apply

• A written application with a minimum of 300 words setting out for the student’s connection to Mortlake, their intention for further study and ambition for the future.
• Two references consisting of one scholastic and one community.
• A copy of VCE results.

Application must be submitted on or before 1st January 2022

Timeline

• The student’s application will be reviewed and selected by an independent panel of Aberlea Foundation.
• Students be available for an interview between the 15th and 22nd of January
• Independent panel will put forward to the Trustee for Dan Brumley Trust the nomination submission for final approval.
• The successful applicant will be notified by 1st of February 2022 and announced in the local newspaper thereafter.
